You might just find yourself the new owners of the Castine Candle Company.  Micah and Carrie Thurston began their ownership of Castine Candle with two dollars, a handshake and keys to the factory. You would be hard-pressed to think of a more unlikely pair to own a candle shop. What started as a fundraising effort to create a football team for their son turned into an opportunity the couple couldn’t turn down, despite knowing nothing about candles, let alone running a business.

Once they started learning, the candles and the Thurstons took off! The Thurstons quest to provide the best quality candles that live up to the ‘Made in Maine’ seal of approval is an ongoing adventure. They are committed to unsurpassed customer service and continued development of products that are family focused.

Their latest creation brought the whole family into the business with the design of Candle Shop in a Box. The request of friends and family to come to “the shop” to create their own candles was the inspiration for this interactive toy kit. It truly was designed by their kids for yours. Each kit designed for hours of quality family time and great for birthday parties, rainy days and gifts.

With all these new additions to the company, you might think there is an army of candle makers, but Castine still hand pours each candle. They bring a commitment to using products that support made in the USA. It is their intent to show that with hard work and a dedication to community that you can make a difference in our economy. The Thurstons believe that families and communities working together can bring the focus back to the philosophy upon which our great country was formed. Work hard, take care of your neighbors, and take pride in all you do.
